All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Lawton Constitution 27 Oct 2002 Carter, Theresa Francis Adelman Funeral for Theresa Francis Adelman Carter, 88, Lawton, will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Johnny Wray, pastor, First Baptist Church,Verden, officiating. Mrs. Carter died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, in Lawton. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery. She was born June 19, 1914, in Faxon to Anton and Jesse Adelman. The family moved to Fairfax in 1918. She attended school there until moving to Faxon in 1930, where she graduated from high school. She married Everett "Mac" Carter on May 5, 1933. He died in September of 1981. They farmed southwest of Lawton for 47 years. She obtained an associates degree from Cameron University and worked for the Lawton Publishing Company from 1970 to 1981 as a librarian. She was a journalist and author of a book of historical short stories. She was a founding member of the Good Cheer Home Economics Club in 1932 and was a member for 70 years. She held the offices of president, vice president and secretary and was a state and national delegate to the annual conferences. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Faxon, for 68 years. She was a Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir for most of those years. She was also active as a 4-H leader for 18 years and was a member of the Shakespeare Club and the Friends of the Library. She worked in the Adult Literacy program from 1982 to 1987. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law: Marilyn and Raymond Fulton, Wichita Falls, Texas; Laura and Homer Smith, Lawton; and Carol and Larry Golden, Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren, Ginger Kindla, Brady Dooley, Kelly Dooley, Darin Smith, Heather Gray, Jack Golden, and Johnathon Smith; ten great-grandchildren; and three great-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a brother, Paul Adelman; and a grandson, David Smith.
