Cooper were conducted Tuesday afternoon in the Baptist church of Cheyenne under the direction of Rev. Laddie Adams and Rev. Jimmie Wilkerson. Committal was in the Cheyenne Cemetery with Scroggins, Cheyenne in charge. George Richard Cooper was born in Bloomfield, Illinois, Johnston county, February 1, 1881, and departed this life at Cheyenne, Oklahoma May 10, 1959. He made the run to Oklahoma with his father when he was just a boy as Oklahoma first opened. He was married to Miss Lula Frances Brady May 16, 1909, at Lawton, Oklahoma. To this union were born seven children: Sarah Elwood of San Leanoro, California, Viola Elwood of Perris, California, George Harrison Cooper of Cheyenne, Iva Minor of Cheyenne, Ruth White of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Dorothy Tucker of Kingfisher, and Richard Cooper of Claremore. He was converted in his youth and had been a member of the Baptist church for years. He was one of the pioneers of Roger Mills County moving from Comanche County here in 1911. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, four brothers and two sisters. He leaves to mourn his wife of the home, his seven children; thirty grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was constantly concerned about the welfare of others, and provided well for his family, both materially and spiritually. He offered his assistance to others durintg times of sickness and need, and will be well remembered by all who knew him.
