Day Funeral for George E. Day, 77, Lawton, is pending with Becker Funeral Home. Mr. Day died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, in Lawton. ========= Lawton Constitution 29 Mar 2003 George E. Day Funeral for retired Sgt. 1st Class George E. Day, 77, Lawton, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Herschel R. Lindsey, Baptist minister, Lawton, officiating. Sgt. Day died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at a local hospital. Burial with military honors will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. He was born Dec. 9, 1925. He married Marjorie Elizabeth McCoid on Feb. 14, 1955, in Topeka, Kan. She died July 5, 1998. He later married Ivon T. Evans. He retired from the Army in 1968 after 22 years of service, and worked for civil service for 20 years. He was a former member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Lawton; five sons: Fred C. Knoll and Howard M. Knoll, both of Del Rio, Texas; Robert L. Knoll, Duncan; George P. Day, Las Cruces, N.M.; and Geoffrey E. Day, Plano, Texas; two sisters: Opal, Washington; and Virginia Barnes, Topeka; 12 grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
