"Jim" Dunn, Sr. Age 79, Lawton - Funeral services will be 10:00 am Wednesday, December 14th at the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mr. Herman Lawrence, Deacon, Holy Family Catholic Church, officiating. Mr. Dunn died Friday in Harlingen, Texas. Burial with full military honors will be in the Post Cemetery, Fort Sill. He was born May 7, 1926 in Wilmerding, Pennsylvania, to John F. and Edith Dunn. He married Mamie Louise Walton on August 17, 1946 in Wilmerding, Pennsylvania. She died October 13, 2005. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and in the U.S. Army during Korea and Vietnam. He retired from the Army on March 30, 1969 at Fort Sill as a Chief Warrant Officer W-4. His awards include the Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters (2 for valor), the Good Conduct Medal, Germany Occupation Medal, European Campaign Medal with one star, World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, National Defense Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Vietnam Campaign Medal with three bronze stars. He later retired from Civil Service at Fort Sill in 1985. He had served as a past commander for the American Legion, District Governor for District 3-L with Lions of Oklahoma, Chairman for the Council of Governors for Lions of Oklahoma, past president of South Central Square Dance District, past president of South Central Callers Association, past president of the Oklahoma Square Dancers Federation. He was a member of the Northeast Lions Club and the Sill-O-Ette Square Dance Club. Survivors include a daughter and son in law, Margaret A. and Larry R. Carr, Muskogee, Oklahoma; a son and daughter in law, James A. and Alatha Dunn, Jr., Accra, Ghana, Africa; two granddaughters, Amber & Autumn; a brother and sister in law, Jack and Barbara Dunn, Savannah, Georgia; a sister in law, Alyce Dunn, Ambler, Pennsylvania.
