All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Sunset Memorial Gardens--Lawton OK Becker Funeral Home Obit 13 Sep 2005 Fleta Floryne Edmonson Age 80, Lawton - Services will be 1:30 PM Saturday in the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Dr. William Sprague, Pastor, Cache Road Baptist Church, officiating. Mrs. Edmonson died Thursday in Arlington, Texas. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Gardens. She was born on March 16, 1925 in Garrison, Texas to Leonard Thomas “L.T.” and Laura Erma (Cooper) Legg. She attended college at Mary Hardin Baylor College in Belton, Texas. She met MAJ (Retired) Robert G. Edmonson at Camp Hood, Texas and the two were married on October 18, 1943 in Nacogdoches, Texas. He died on August 26, 1996. She was a member of the Cache Road Baptist Church where she was also on staff as the organist. Mrs. Edmonson was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a Campfire Girl Troop Leader and a PTA officer and past president at Swinney Elementary. Survivors include three daughters, Judith Winfree and her husband, Reverdy, of Raleigh, North Carolina; Kathy Whitley and her husband, COL (Retired) Jack Whitley, of Temple, Texas; and Melissa Edmonson of Lawton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tom Edmonson and Diana of Arlington, Texas and MAJ (Retired) John Edmonson and Suzy of Bedford, Texas; nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren and the friends and staff at Angelic Place in Arlington, Texas. Her parents, husband and an infant brother preceded her in death.
