All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Lawton Constitution 17 Jan 2003 Estelle Faulconer FREDERICK - Funeral for Estelle Faulconer, 91, Frederick, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Jackson Funeral Home Chapel, Frederick, with the Rev. Les Banks officiating. Mrs. Faulconer died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, at a Norman care center. Burial will be at Frederick Memorial Cemetery. She was born Dec. 8, 1911, in Chattanooga, to Mr. and Mrs. L.E. Waldrop. The family moved to Frederick, where they homesteaded a farm northwest of town. She later attended two years of college in Edmond, and then became a Tillman County teacher when she was 20. She married Ralph Faulconer on May 19, 1936. He died in 1986. They moved from Frederick to a farm home, where they lived for 50 years. She taught in Frederick Junior High School for many years, teaching a total of 32 years in Tillman County. She spent the last 10 years of her profession as a member of the faculty at Altus Junior College. During her 42-year educational career, she earned a master's degree from Oklahoma University, served as president of the Oklahoma Education Association and served on several committees in the National Education Association, including six years on the ethics committee. She co-authored the state-adopted textbook in Oklahoma history, and wrote the workbook that accompanied the text. The books were used in Oklahoma schools for 25 years. She was awarded the Distinguished Service Citation from the University of Oklahoma in 1963. She was a member of the CE Chapter of PEO since 1988, and a member of Frederick First Baptist Church. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James and Sally Faulconer, Norman; and a granddaughter, Erin Gwin Faulconer, Norman; and other family members.
