All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Sunset Memorial Gardens--Lawton OK Lawton Constitution 11 July 2003 Harold ‘Babe’ Ferrell Funeral for Harold "Babe" Ferrell, 85, Lawton, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church with Jim Antwine officiating. Mr. Ferrell died Thursday, July 10, 2003, at a local hospital. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens under direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home. He was born Dec. 11, 1917, on a farm southwest of Lawton to James Edward and Jennie Beten Ferrell. He moved to Lawton at age 4. He graduated from Lawton High School in 1937 and was involved in sports. He graduated from Independence Junior College at Independence, Kan., where he attended on a basketball scholarship. He served in the United States Army from May 2, 1942, to Jan. 7, 1946, in the Philippines and New Guinea. After his Army service, he continued his civil service career at Fort Sill. He retired as a budget analyst on March 28, 1981, after 39 years. He married Edith Mae Duncan on June 6, 1946, in Mangum. She died March 23, 1999. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, First Christian Church and the Chapel Sunday school class. Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Rodier, Centreville, Va.; two granddaughters: Tamra Wooten, Fairfax, Va.; and Shelly Henrion, Seminole, Fla.; a grandson, Shawn Rodier, Ashburn, Va.; and five great-grandchildren: Kylie and Austin Morris, Riley and Quinn Rodier and Tyler Henrion. He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers: Bob, Bill, Tom, John, Jess and Jack.
