Eddie Coast, officiating. Mr. Franklin died Saturday, July 12, 2003, in Lawton. Burial with military honors will be in Paradise Valley Cemetery under the direction of Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service. He was born October 30, 1928, in Leticia, to Edmond Osburn and Ruth Pannell Franklin. He graduated from Alma High School in 1946 and from Cameron College in 1948. He married Ellen McCosh in Wichita Falls, Texas on May 8, 1950. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952 until 1954, during which time he was stationed at San Diego, Calif., Camp Lejeune, N.C., and in Korea. He retired from Public Service Company of Oklahoma after 35 years of service. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and served as a Sunday School teacher in the youth department and as a deacon from 1965 until his death. He was also active in the Trinity Baptist Church Nursing Home Ministry at McMahon Tomlinson Nursing center for many years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 183, coached little league football at Garfield and Eisenhower Elementary and was active in leadership of Boy Scout Troop 142 for many years. Survivors include: his wife, of the home; two sons: Mike Franklin, Lawton, and Kevin Franklin and wife Kathy, Lawton; two daughters: Cindy Chadwick and husband, Jim, Carrolton, Texas, and Shellie Anders and husband Bruce, Carrolton, Texas; two sisters: DeLois Sylvester and husband Art, Atlanta, Ga., and Kelcyne Taylor, Duncan; a sister- in-law, June Hewes, Elgin; three aunts: Grace Wright, Walters, Josephine Seward, Washington; Dean Williams, California; eleven grandchildren: Teddy, Jodi, Jennifer, Kristen, Chad, Katie, Kyle, Corey, Callie, Craig, and Garold "Cole"; five great-great- grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.
