All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== :Highland Cemetery--Lawton OK Lawton Constitution 6 Jul 2003 Will Tom Gibbs Funeral for former Lawton resident Will Tom Gibbs, 87, Tulsa, will be at noon Monday at Barnett Chapel AME Church with the Rev. Blanton Bennett, pastor, officiating. Mrs. Gibbs died Sunday, June 29, 2003, in Tulsa. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery under direction of Jefferson Funeral Home. She was born June 2, 1916, in Ennis, Texas, to Thomas Alexander and Emma Ackerman. The family moved to Lawton when she was very young. She graduated from Lawton Douglass High School and attended Texas Barber College. She married Wilford Vasher and later Tommie Gibbs, both of whom preceded her in death. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Barnett Chapel AME Church where she served as secretary of the Stewardess Board and was a member of the Usher Board. She was a member of Les Femmes Club. Survivors include two sisters: Emma Arthur St. Bernard, Brooklyn, N.Y., Queenie Elizabeth Raymond, Millersville, Md.; five grandchildren: Gene R. Patton, Christopher S. Patton, John B. Bailey Jr., Jacqueline Hartlaub, and Lynn Vasher; five great-grandchildren: Paige, Taylor, Tyron, Ramon, and Ebony; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
