All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== :Fort Sill National Cemetery--Elgin OK Lawton Constitution 28 Apr 2003 Michael Wayne Gipson Funeral for Michael Wayne Gipson, 56, Lawton, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Gary E. Bender, pastor, officiating. Mr. Gipson died Wednesday, April 23, 2003, in Southfield, Mich. Burial with military honors will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery under direction of Jefferson Funeral Home. He was born April 5, 1947, in Hobart to P.H. and Callie Holland Gipson Jr. He graduated from Hobart High School in 1965 and attended Cameron University, where he was a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. He married Malinda Garmon on Dec. 21, 1974, in Lawton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and joined the Lawton Police Department in 1971. He retired after 21 years of service. He also worked as a security guard at MacArthur Junior High School. Survivors include his wife, of the home; his mother, Callie Davis; his stepmother, Ella J. Gipson, Lawton; two daughters: LaDonna K. Gipson, Edmond; and Darla Michelle Watson and her husband Ron, Chattanooga, Tenn.; a son, Jeffery C. Gipson, Lawton; six grandchildren: Essence, Terrelle, Danielle, Kameno, Ashlee and Kavin; five sisters: Elaine Anderson and her husband Ralph, Irving, Texas; Arlene Bonita Gipson, Oklahoma City; Pauline Timmons, Hobart; and Carol Ann Gipson, Rosaline Ford and her husband John, all of Dallas; five brothers: Tyrone Gipson and his wife, Marshanna, Fort Campbell, Ky.; Paul Gipson and his wife, Brenda, Mesquite, Texas; Roger Holliwell and his wife, Kita, Lawton; Reginald Holland, Atlanta; and Rick Holland, Woodward; five aunts: Evelyn Thomas, Detroit; Dorothy Jefferies, Hobart; Johnnie Gipson, Oklahoma City; Thelma Gipson, Spencer and Edna Ray, Lawton; two goddaughters: Yolanda Farrington, Atlanta; and Lamiah Latimer, Lawton; his close friends, Montez and JoAnn Brown, Lawton; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. to at the funeral home.
