Janice Denise Gaspard, 32, Lawton, is pending with Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service. Sgt. Gaspard died Saturday, May 24, 2003, in Oklahoma City. ========= Lawton Consitituion 28 May 2003 Janice Denise Gaspard LAWTON — Funeral for Janice Denise Gaspard, 32, Lawton, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Chapel, Lawton, with the Rev. Ernest Rhodes officiating. Mrs. Gaspard died Saturday, May 24, 2003, in Oklahoma City. Burial with military honors will be at Post Cemetery. A military memorial service will be at 10 a.m. today at Frontier Chapel, Fort Sill. A prayer service will be from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. She was born Jan. 9, 1971, in Wichita, Kan., to Varnie M. Bell and Wilbert G. Burgess. After elementary school, she attended and graduated from North High School in Wichita, where she was an honor student, cheerleader and volleyball player. She attended Cowley County Junior College until her enlistment in the Army, where she attained the rank of staff sergeant During her 12-year military career, she served in Korea; Ft. Bragg, N.C.; Germany; Croatia; Fort Gordon, Ga.; and Fort Sill. During her military career she earned many awards and commendations for her distinguished service. She married Justin Gaspard in Aiken, S.C., on Feb. 5, 1998. Survivors include her husband, of the home; two sons: X. Dominique Reese and Joshua E. Reese, of the home; a daughter, Jada D. Gaspard, of the home; a sister and brother-in-law, Nikki and Ron Burgess, Little Rock, Ark.; a brother, Wilbert G. Burgess Jr., Wichita; a grandmother, Maudline Burgess, Wichita; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father.
