Gant Funeral for Armond U. Gant, 68, Lawton, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doug Passmore, pastor, First Baptist East, officiating. Mr. Gant died Sunday, April 27, 2003, at a local hospital. He was born July 1, 1934, in Parrish, Ala., to Sarah Annie Smith and Thomas Windom Gant. He came to Lawton in 1965. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He retired from the Army in the 1970s after 20 years of service. He worked at PPG in Wichita Falls, Texas, for 10 years and at Goodyear for 10 years before retiring. He married Helen L. Brock on Aug. 30, 1966, in Wichita Falls. She died Aug. 20, 2001. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Victor and Mary Gant, Lawton; a daughter and son-in-law, Cathy Scott and her husband Mike Kimberly, Lawton; a brother, Dewight Gant and his wife Velma, Parrish; a sister, Lois Dunn, Tallassee, Ala.; two granddaughters: Catherine Gant and her fiance Kenny Peters and Nicole "Nikki" Gant; a grandson, Daniel Scott; and several nieces and nephews.
