All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Post Cemetery--Ft Sill OK Lawton Constitution 02 July 2003 Carl Douglas Gray Funeral for retired Sgt. 1st Class Carl Douglas Gray, 70, Lawton, will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Herman Lawrence, deacon, Holy Family Catholic Church, officiating. Sgt. Gray died Monday, June 30, 2003, at his home. Burial with military honors will be at Post Cemetery, Fort Sill. He was born June 5, 1933, in Rockland, Maine, to Maynard and Mae Gray. He grew up and graduated from high school in Maine. After graduation he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served for more than 20 years, retiring March 31, 1975. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, and received many awards and decorations. He married Frances Vaughn on April 17, 1968, in Wichita Falls, Texas. After his retirement from the Army, he attended the Lawton Barber College, and worked for twenty years at the Fort Sill Barbershop. He also attended classes at Cameron University. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, a 3rd-Degree Knight of Columbus, a life member of VFW Post No. 5263 and a member of the American Legion. Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons: Pat Kelley, Lawton; and Fred Kelley and his wife, Terri, Benicia, Calif.; two sisters: Arlene Bisbee, and Buddy Carr, both of Rockland, Maine; four grandchildren: Michael Kelley Jr. and Jennifer, Matthew and Michelle Kelley; four great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Tisha Kelley, Lawton. He was preceded in death by two sons: Michael Kelley and Ricky Gray.
