Griess Funeral for Menford T. Griess, 59, Lawton, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at West Side Church of God, Northwest 63rd and Oak, with the Rev. John Webb officiating. Mr. Griess died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, in Lawton. Burial with military honors will be at Post Cemetery under direction of Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service. He was born April 26, 1943, in Sutton, Neb., to Dorothy Klein and Rupert H. Griess. He married Merrilyn Farrell at Huntington Park, Calif., on May 24, 1969. He served in the U.S. Navy for 18 years and retired in May 1982. He was stationed at San Diego, Calif. Awards he received include the Good Conduct Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal with one Bronze Star, Sea Service Ribbon and the National Defense Service Medal. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Kevin Michael Griess, Holland; two daughters: Julie M. Griess and April R. Beatty Griess, both of Lawton; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Karlen and Linda Griess and Rodney and Denise Griess, both of Lincoln, Neb.; four grandchildren: Aaron, Christopher and Cody Giesler; and Ryan Griess.
