Hughes Funeral for Jerelene D. Hughes, 87, Lawton, is pending with Howard-Harris Funeral Services, Lawton. Mrs. Hughes died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004. ========== Lawton Consitituion 10 Oct 2004 Jerelene Delores Hughes Funeral for Jerelene Delores Hughes, 87, Lawton, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Lawton, with the Rev. Gary E. Bender, pastor, officiating. Mrs. Hughes died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, after a lengthy illness. Burial will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, under direction of Howard-Harris Funeral Services, Lawton. She was born April 28, 1917, in Muskogee, to Caroline and Mitchell Smith. She attended school in Temple and moved to Lawton in 1946. She was employed at Fort Sill as a waitress and after her retirement, she was a homemaker. She married George Hughes on Oct. 7, 1952, in Wichita Falls, Texas. As a military wife, she traveled extensively with her husband. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church for 50 years and served with the Women's Missionary Union. Survivors include her husband, of the home; a sister, Juanita Bryant, Dickenson, Texas; a brother, Billy Smith, Los Angeles, Calif.; two brothers-in-law: John Hughes and his wife Mary, Atlanta, Ga.; and Leon Hughes and his wife Jeanette, Columbia, Mo.; a host of nephews and nieces; and numerous other relatives and friends.
