Hisle Funeral for retired Sgt. 1st Class Billy C. Hisle, 72, Lawton, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Robert Smith, youth pastor, Madill First Baptist Church, and John Kerr, retired Baptist minister, Sterling, officiating. Sgt. Hisle died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at a Lawton hospital. Burial with military honors will be at Post Cemetery, Fort Sill. He was born April 23, 1931, in Winchester, Ky., to Henry and Hattie Hisle. He grew up in Kentucky, and was drafted into the Army on June 13, 1952. He was a Vietnam veteran, and his awards include the Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal Sixth Award, one Overseas Service Bar, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the National Defense Service Medal with First Oak Leaf Cluster. He retired from the Army on Aug. 31, 1975, at Fort Sill. He later attended Cameron College and went to work for Lawton Public Schools. He retired again in 1995. He married Ada Crowe on Sept. 8, 1951, in Winchester, Ky. He served as a volunteer for Mobile Meals, and was a member of the board of directors for Meet the Needs. Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Walden Douglas and Marie Hisle, Fletcher; three daughters and sons-in-law: Janie Virginia and Joe Hoff, Brenda Jo and Tommy Ronio and Billie Lynn and R.L. Smith, all of Lawton; four brothers: James, Eugene, Jackie and Ramond Hisle, all of Kentucky; eight grandchildren and their spouses: Mary and Tony Velazquez, Jennifer and Jose Olivencia, Donna and Juan Flores, Angel Smith, Robert and Mary Smith, Amanda Ronio, T.J. Ronio and Erin Hoff; six great-grandchildren: Kirstie, David and Brianna Velazquez, Jacob Olivencia and Gabriella and Isaiah Flores. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Edward H. and Kenneth L. Hisle; and two sisters: Irene Burgess and May Barker. Memorial contributions may be made to Mobile Meals or Feed the Children. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
