Haley Age 90, Lawton, Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Friday at the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bob Jones, pastor and Rev. Mike Teel, associate pastor at Cameron Baptist Church officiating. Sgt. Haley died Monday in a Lawton hospital. Burial with full military honors will be in Highland Cemetery. Sgt. Haley was born November 11, 1914 in Knoxville, Tennessee to Jonas and Ila Myrtle Whitlock Haley. He was married to Inez Ruby Apple on December 29, 1943 in Duncan. She died February 18, 1995. Sgt. Haley attended several schools in the Knoxville Tennessee area. He joined the U.S. Army on June 14, 1941 at Fort Oglethorp, Georgia. He was a veteran of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. He had served overseas tours in England, France, Germany, Japan, Korea, and Italy. His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with First Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal (eight award), American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal with Japan Clasp, National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, United Nations Service Medal, Honorable Service Lapel Button W. W. II, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation Badge, Sharpshooter Badge with Carbine and Rifle Bars and Marksman Badge with Pistol Bar. During the period from June 1966 to April 1971 he served as Sergeant Major, Office of the Director of Logistics, United States Field Artillery School at Fort Sill. He retired from the Army on April 30, 1971. He then entered Civil Service at Fort Sill retiring in 1979. He was last assigned to the Finance Division USPAC at Fort Sill. Sgt. Haley was a member of the First Baptist Church, Friendly Fellow Sunday School Class, the VFW, Disabled American Veterans and the Non Commissioned Officer's Association. Survivors include a grandson; Richard M. Colavito and his wife Lorrie, Lawton, two sisters; Mildred Holbert, Powell, Tennessee, and Margaret Stansberry, Athens, Tennessee, and several nieces and nephews and other relative in the Knoxville, Tennessee area.
