Holland Jr. Funeral for Thomas E. Holand Jr., 83, Lawton, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church with the Rev. Wayne Ashlock, pastor, officiating. Mr. Holland died Sunday, April 27, 2003, at his home. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under direction of Becker Funeral Home. He was born Nov. 15, 1919, in Bartlesville to Thomas E. Holland Sr. and Mary Amelia Taylor. He married Georgiana Geesaman on March 7, 1942, in Oklahoma City. He attended Northeastern State University and Connors Junior College in Warner. He was an Army captain, and served as a liaison pilot. He was with the 310th Field Artillery Battery attached to the 79th Infantry Division. He was stationed in England in preparation for the Invasion of Normandy, which he entered on D-day plus six. He remained in the European Theater until the end of the war. He was honorably discharged in April 1952. He retired from MIC, a division of General Motors, in 1979. He and his wife moved to Lawton in March 1954, and became members of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ. He was a Deacon, and served on various committees. He was also a member of the Friends Sunday School Class. He volunteered for the American Cancer Society, and delivered Mobile Meals. Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Clayton Werner; a sister, Sylvia Carl; five grandchildren: Clayton Werner Jr. and friend, Danyelle Price; Luke Werner; Rachel Werner; Rachel Hughes; and David Mendiola; a great-granddaughter, Clare Werner, and her mother, Sheryl Jones. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church Memorial Trust Fund.
