Humble Funeral for Elsie W. Humble, 84, Lawton, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lawton Heights United Methodist Church with the Rev. Montie Jones, pastor, officiating. Mr. Humble died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, in Lawton. Burial will be at Chattanooga Cemetery under direction of Becker Funeral Home. He was born June 20, 1919, in Chattanooga to Elmore W. and Maude Brooks Humble. He grew up in Chattanooga and graduated from high school. He later obtained his master’s degree in agriculture from Oklahoma A&M. He served in the Army during World War II. He worked as a soil conservationist, and managed the Chattanooga Co-op for many years. He later worked in insurance sales. He married Billie Perry on Aug. 10, 1941 in Frederick. She died April 17, 1997. He was a member of Lawton Heights United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons: Keith E. Humble, Oklahoma City; and Kirk W. Humble and his wife, Linda, Altus; three daughters: Karen Carson, Cleburne, Texas; Kathy Bertwell and her husband Danny, Guthrie; and Kayla Humble, Lawton; two brothers: Gale Humble, Norman; and D.M. Humble, Elk City; two sisters: Lahoma Dye, Lawton; and Elene Kinder, Frederick; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Vallie and J.S., and a sister, Greta.
