Hamburger Funeral for Earl W. Hamburger, 91, Lawton, is pending with Becker Funeral Home. Mr. Hamburger died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004, at a local hospital. ========= Lawton Constitutuion 8 Sep 2004 Earl W. Hamburger Funeral for Earl W. Hamburger, 91, Lawton, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Paul's United Methodist Church with Foy Conrad, pastor, and the Rev. Stephen Hale, officiating. Mr. Hamburger died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004, in Lawton. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery, Weatherford, under direction of Becker Funeral Home. He was born April 2, 1913, to John J. and Katie Harrouff Hamburger in Washita County. He attended Enterprise one-room school, then Weatherford Public Schools. He married Mable Burcham on May 25, 1940, in Greer County. He was a civilian instructor in the U. S. Army Air Force during World War II from 1942-1946 at Amarillo Air Field. He received his master's degree in education from Southwestern Oklahoma University and taught industrial arts at Southwestern Oklahoma University. He was principal at Foss, before moving to Lawton. He taught at Lawton High School and retired in 1976. He was a charter member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and served in many capacities in the church including delivering mobile meals. He was a member of Classroom Teachers Association and served as its president, Comanche County Retired Teachers, the National and Oklahoma Education Associations and was an early-day member of National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors. Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons and a daughter-in- law, Dr. Kenneth Earl and Janie Hamburger, Warwick, N.Y.; and Steven Grant Hamburger, Falls Church, Va.; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn Sue and Campbell Long, Lawton; five grandchildren and their spouses: Kate and Jim Temple, Winchester, Tenn.; Dan and Jennifer Hamburger, Alabaster, Ala.; Rachael and Dusty Marco, and Cynthia Long, all of Lawton, Garth and Shanel Long, Spanish Fork, Utah; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers: Jim Hamburger, Pawnee; and Fred Hamburger, Lawton; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Gladys and Ralph Burcham, Edmond; and Beulah and Don Carlson, Grandview, Wash.; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; a sister; several nieces and nephews; and an infant son, Bob Wayne Hamburger.
