All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Ft Sill National Cemetery--Elgin OK Lawton Constitution June 17, 2003 John Hammons Funeral for John Hammons, 47, Lawton, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Howard-Harris Funeral Services Chapel with Chaplain Lt. Col. D. Eric Schwartz officiating. Mr. Hammons died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003. Burial with military honors will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, under direction of Howard-Harris Funeral Services. He was born Jan. 30, 1956, in Phoenix, Ariz., to Odies and Elizabeth Hammons. He grew up in California and attended school in Oakland, Calif. He entered the U.S. Army in February 1977 and was honorably discharged in 1992. He married Bobby Hammons on Dec. 2, 1985. Survivors include, his wife, New Orleans, La.; a daughter, Nikki Hammons, New Orleans, La.; two stepsons: Avil Stewart, Atlanta, Ga.; and Dewey McGee, New Orleans, La.; three brothers: Otis, Paul and Issiah Hammons, all of Oakland, Calif.; five sisters: Martha Ann Williams, Ruth Hammons, Sarah Byers and husband, Lawrence, Hannah Hammons, all of Oakland, Calif., and Clariece Harris, Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters-in-law: Marjorie Edwards and husband Clabe, and Bertha Conner and husband, John, all of New Orleans, La.; numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
