Hawthorne CACHE — Graveside service for Eleanor P. Hawthorne, 83, Cache, will be at 1 p.m. today at Pecan Cemetery, southwest of Lawton, with the Rev. Harold Brown, pastor, Asbury United Methodist Church, Oklahoma City, officiating. Mrs. Hawthorne died Thursday, May 8, 2003, at a Lawton hospital. Arrangements are by Becker Funeral Home. She was born Oct. 24, 1919, in Lawton, to Earl and Hattie Porter. She married Joe T. Hawthorne on Sept. 20, 1941, in Altus. He died March 7, 1996. She attended college at the Oklahoma College for Women, and started her teaching career in 1963 at Cleveland Elementary. She retired in 1985. She was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and involved in the United Methodist Women. Survivors include a son, Tommy Hawthorne, Cache; a sister, Viola Gibson, Lawton; a brother, Delbert Porter, Lexington; two granddaughters and their husbands: Stacy and Steve Robinson and Tiffany and Kerry Massie, all of Lawton; and a great-grandson, Brock Massie. She was preceded in death by her brother, Edwin Porter.
