Isbell, 92, died Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005. Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday at Springtown Church of Christ, Springtown. Burial: Veal Station Cemetery, Parker County. Visitation: Friends may call at Calvario Funeral Chapel, formerly Shannon North, where the family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. A.V. was born Feb. 19, 1913, in Parker County. He graduated from Texas Christian University and served as a principal and basketball coach for a number of Texas high schools prior to entering the full- time ministry in 1947. He was the minister for Churches of Christ in Friona, Midland and Briar, and in Elk City and Lawton, Okla. He was the president of two colleges, Southwestern Christian College in Terrell and Fort Worth Christian College. He preached regularly until he was 80 years old. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Reta Green Isbell, and one grandson. Survivors: Daughters and their husbands, Lacreta and Jack Scott of Pasadena, Calif., and Mary Sue and John Scott of Tyler; sons and their wives, Allen and Mikey Isbell of Galveston and John Paul and Melissa Isbell of Woodinville, Wash.; 16 grandchildren; 19 great- grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and his caregiver, Tina Ivy.
