Johnston Funeral for Joan B. Johnston, 75, Lawton, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Herschel Lindsey and the Rev. Harvey McMurry officiating. Mrs. Johnston died Thursday, June 5, 2003, in Lawton. Burial will be at Fort Sill Post Cemetery. She was born July 2, 1927, in Rich Hill, Mo., to Robert A. and Mary Wheatley Burns. She married Benjamin David Johnston Sr. on Dec. 2, 1948, at Tacoma, Wash. She was employed by civil service as a secretary for 30 years at the Fort Sill Museum and Reynolds Army Hospital. She was a member and Sunday school teacher at Westwood Baptist Church and a member of Primetime Choir. She was a member of ITC-International Toastmistress, a past Worthy Matron of OES, and served as WMU director with the Comanche-Cotton Baptist Association. Survivors include two sons: Benjamin D. Johnston, Norman, and Robert B. Johnston and wife Lana, Frederick; a daughter, Jeannine Miller and husband Micky, Wichita Falls, Texas; a sister, Marjorie Kuester and husband Bill, San Antonio, Texas; six grandchildren: Robby Johnston, Jenna Johnston and Lars Johnston, all of Frederick; Lauren Miller, Micheal Miller and Mark Miller, all of Wichita Falls, Texas; several nieces, nephews, and several family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
