All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Lawton Constitution 7 Jan 2005 Jenkins, Gene Franklin Funeral for Gene Franklin Jenkins, 61, Lawton, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Centenary United Methodist Church, with John Wallace, elder, pastor of Grace Fellowship, and the Rev. William S. Todd, pastor, Centenary United Methodist Church, officiating. Mr. Jenkins died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2004, at a local hospital after a sudden illness. Burial will be at Flower Mound Cemetery under direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home. He was born Dec. 22, 1943, in Lawton, to Bert and Thelma Galyean Jenkins. He graduated from Lawton High School in 1962 and from the University of Oklahoma in 1966 with a bachelor of arts in journalism. He married Kaye Lee Thompson on June 11, 1966, at Centenary United Methodist Church in Lawton. He worked for the Daily Oklahoman in advertising and for Dulaney's, a home appliance distributor in Oklahoma City. After his parents died, he and his family moved to his childhood home east of Lawton where he lived until his death. He worked in retail and was employed most recently with Bill's Scoreboard. Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law: Michael and Kimberly, Norman; and Stephen and Vanessa, Austin, Texas; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Ron Stanley, Lawton; his mother-in- law, Virginia Thompson, Lawton; two grandsons: Guthrie and Henry; a brother-in-law and his wife, Dale and Ina Thompson Jr., San Antonio; and a sister-in-law and her husband, Marilyn and John Seely, Kaneohe, Hawaii.
