Maj. Clarence Henry Kuehn, 76, Lawton, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at New Post Chapel, Fort Sill, with Chaplain Capt. Martha Carson, Fort Sill, officiating. Sgt. Maj. Kuehn died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, in Lawton. Burial will be at Post Cemetery, Fort Sill, under direction of Becker Funeral Home. He was born Dec. 31, 1926, in Moulton, Texas, to August L. and Hilda Kuehn. He entered the Army on May 2, 1944, and became a member of the Coast Artillery. He also served as a rifleman in the Pacific Theatre and then as a tank mechanic, until ending his military career at Fort Sill on Dec. 31, 1977. As a member of the 32nd Infantry Division, he was among the first members to secure Nagasaki Harbor, Japan, after the atomic bomb. Upon retiring from active duty, he served with the Directorate of Logistics for 10 years at Fort Sill. He was decorated and had numerous awards during his more than 30 years of active military duty. He married Gertrud Moser on Feb. 5, 1955, in Karlsruhe, Germany. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 56, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5263 and the Varmint Hunters of America. Survivors include his wife, of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law: Bernie Kuehn and his wife, Kendra, Kent, Wash.; Clarence H. Kuehn Jr. and his wife, Su, Albuquerque, N.M.; Steven D. Kuehn and his wife Cindy, Sparta, N.C.; a sister, Esther Heinsohn, Hallettsville, Texas; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a special friend and caregiver, Pamela Marrero, Lawton. His parents preceded him in death.
