All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Kemble, Mary Louise Hill 1920 - 2005 Mary Louise Hill Kemble, 84, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother, went to be with her Lord Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at home, with her loving husband at her side. Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Greenwood Chapel. Burial: Red Oak Cemetery, Red Oak. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Protestant Fellowship of St. Francis Village, 281 St. Clair, Crowley, Texas 76036; the American Cancer Society, 3301 West Freeway, Fort Worth, Texas 76107; or the Red Oak Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 248, Red Oak, Texas 75154. Mary Louise Hill Kemble was born May 30, 1920, in East Chicago, Ind., to Russell and Sarah Nobel Hill. Mary Louise, better known as Lou to her friends, or Grammy to her grandchildren, grew up in Waco. She graduated from Waco High School in 1937, where she was a member of the Waco High Marching Band. On Sept. 21, 1942, she married Joe Roy Kemble of Lott at Orchard Methodist Church in El Paso. They were happily married for 62 years. They resided in San Diego, Calif., where she and Joe worked for Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Company, until 1944. From April 1944 until April 1946 they lived in Lawton, Okla., and Burkburnett. While Joe was stationed at Fort Sill, Okla., and Shepard Air Force Base, their daughter, Kathryn Louise, was born. From 1946 to 1971, they lived in River Oaks, where their daughter, Sarilynn Jo, was born. Lou was active as a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Women's Society at River Oaks Methodist Church. She was a leader in Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts and was instrumental in organizing the River Oaks Lions Club Lady Lions and served as its first president. As a Girl Scout leader for a number of years, she was known to the troop as "Cookie." In 1971, they moved to Vienna, Va., and lived on Joy Lane. Lou was very active in the community and the Methodist Church of Good Shepherd. She was awarded two life memberships, one at River Oaks and one in Vienna, Va. After Joe's retirement in 1980, they returned to Arlington and lived on Brookshadows Court. She and Joe took up square-dancing and were active members of the Cowtown Corners and the North Texas Camping Squares. They also traveled extensively in their travel trailer throughout the U.S. and Canada. In 1989, they moved to St. Francis Village in Crowley and resided there until present. Lou was active in the Protestant Fellowship Chapel, where she introduced the custom of celebrating Christmas with a crimson tree in the chapel. She organized and directed a womanless style show that was a big hit and assisted with conducting a craft class. One of Lou's favorite pastimes was to take used greeting cards and redesign them to send to her friends. Lou was preceded in death by a son, Russell James Kemble, and grandson, Phillip Sessums. Survivors: Husband, Joe. R. Kemble; children, Kathryn Louise Kemble Sessums and husband, Eddie, of Benbrook and Sarilynn Jo Harkness and husband, Dave, of Londonderry, N.H.; grandchildren, Jarrett Kemble and wife, Ruby Jo, Jason Kemble and wife, Janice, Justin Kemble and wife, Samantha, Ross, Christopher and Melissa Harkness; great-grandchildren, Kayla and Kadi Sessums and Sebastian, Walker and Toby Kemble; and a host of relatives and friends.
