King Funeral for former Lawton resident Edward E. King, 78, Oklahoma City, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Aaron Martin, pastor, Fargo United Methodist Church, officiating. Mr. King died Monday, April 21, 2003. Burial with military honors will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. He was born March 19, 1925, in Charlottesville, Va., to Ashby and Luttie Carver King. He joined the U.S. Army in 1949, and served in Korea, Japan and three tours in Germany. He received many medals including the Dvr badge with bar, NDSM with Oak Leak Cluster, GC Medal, 3rd award; GC Medal, 4th Award; and Ss Rifle. He retired in 1972 after 24 years of service. He married Barbara Bobbie Humphrey on May 4, 1953, in Charlottesville, Va. They moved to Denton, Texas, then to Lawton, where they lived for many years. They then moved back to Denton, and later moved to Oklahoma City. Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Edward "Rick" King, Elgin; two daughters and sons-in-law: Hazel and Ben Stern, Oklahoma City; and Cynthia and Wayne Crow, Anadarko; a sister and brother-in-law, Gladys V. and Pat Driver, Richmond, Va; and a brother in-law, Alfred B. Humphrey, Lawton; five grandchildren: Kameron Stern, Robyn King, Amanda Padgett and her fiancé Rocky Roulain, Edward "Ricky" King and Kayla King; and two great-grandchildren: Ryan Padgett and Macy Roulain. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Oscar R. King; and a sister, Virginia Butler.
