All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Sunset Memorial Gardens--Lawton OK Becker Funeral Home Obit 13 Nov 2005 Colleen Kirby Age 77, Lawton - Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Dr. Gary W. Cook and Mr. Cecil Powell, officiating. Mrs. Kirby died Sunday in a local care center. Entombment will be in the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Gardens. She was born December 16, 1927 in Hollis, Oklahoma to Glen and Clara Sommers. She grew up and graduated high school in Altus. She later attended Western Union School in Kansas and Cameron College. She had worked for WKY Television in Oklahoma City as an editor, for the Altus Times Democrat as a society page writer and had worked for Ansley Paper Company in Lawton as a bookkeeper until her retirement in 1983. She married E.R. “Red Kirby on April 12, 1952 in Vernon, Texas. He died January 4, 2002. She was a member of Cameron Baptist Church and had been the director of Girl Scouts in Altus as well as a bridge club member. Her hobbies include OU Sports, reading and spending time with her family. Survivors include two daughters, Robin Hardy and Jill Kirby, both of Lawton; a son and daughter in law, Pat and Melissa Kirby, Midlothian, Texas; a sister, Glen Ann Sommers, Lawton; five grandchildren, Kristy and Butch Huskey, Matt Hardy, Jennifer Hardy, Spencer Braggs and Kaitlyn Kirby; a great granddaughter, Kennedy Huskey; many nieces and nephews; a special family friend, Carlen Young, Germany. Two sisters, Betty Jane Sommers and Peggy Starwalt, preceded her in death.
