All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== :: Lawton Constitution 30 May 2003 Joe Lamarr Kearns SEOUL, Korea - Memorial service for former Lawton resident Joe Lamarr Kearns, 62, Seoul, Korea, will be at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Mt. Scott Picnic Area, just south of Mt. Scott, Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge with Ross Hankins officiating. Friends are invited. Mr. Kearns died Feb. 11, 2003, in Seoul, Korea. Arrangements were by a Seoul funeral home. He was born May 16, 1941, in Charlotte N.C. He married Yvonne Held Oct. 19, 1974. He received a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor, Belton, Texas, and was a certified alcohol/drug counselor. He served 20 years in the Army, was a Vietnam veteran, and was honorably discharged in 1986. After that, he worked for several years at the Adolescent Drug and Alcohol Treatment Unit (STAR) at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton. In 1994, he and his wife moved to Seoul, Korea, where he worked for the military as a drug and alcohol counselor and prevention coordinator.
