All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Lawton Constitution 31 Oct 2002 Lackey, Anita Funeral for Anita Lackey, Lawton, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at New Post Chapel, Fort Sill, with the Rev. James P. Holley, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, officiating. Mrs. Lackey died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, at her home. Burial will be at Post Cemetery under direction of Becker Funeral Home. She was born in Hazelhurst, Ga., to Lenton and Annette Kirkland. She grew up in West Green, Ga., and attended South Georgia College in Douglas, Ga. She was a secretary to the president of a local construction company in Columbus, Ga. She married Lt. Lyman Lackey on Oct. 7, 1961, in Douglas. The family spent the next 20 years living in various cities and Army posts, including three years in Hawaii. She and her husband lived in the Lawton-Fort Sill area since 1972. During their military life, she was a member of the Officers' Wives Club and the board of directors. She helped with bazaars, parade of quarters and the mobile meals program. She was also a member of the post garden club. She participated in the Artillery Hunt Club Activities and horse shows at Rucker Park and was awarded "The Artillery Order of the Molly Pitcher." Survivors include her husband, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynda Beth Lackey Loewen and Maj. Edward Loewen, Dale City, Va.; a granddaughter, Kelly Danielle Loewen, Dale City; and a sister, Martha Beth Roberts, Lady Lake, Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Lenton.
