Lindsey John D. Lindsey, 55, of Amarillo, died Sunday, July 7, 2002, in Lawton, Okla. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with the Rev. Ray Milhoan of Country Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Lindsey married Dorothy Rankin on April 26, 1968, in Sour Lake. He moved to Homestead, Fla., with the Army before moving to Amarillo. He worked for the state comptroller's office for 23 years before retiring. After retirement, he spent time working on cars with his friends. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Carala Ogungbayi of Lawton, Okla., and Cathy Lindsey of Amarillo; two sisters, Martyha Brewster of Watkins Ville, Ga., and Mary Ann Jeanes of Bryan; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity; or Country Church at the Big Texan. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Amarillo Globe-News, July 10, 2002
