All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Lawton Constitution 6 Jan 2003 Lowry, Aline Graveside service for Aline Lowry, Lawton, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Highland Cemetery with the Rev. Shaun Wicker, pastor, Bethel United Methodist Church, and visiting pastor of Centenary United Methodist Church, officiating. Mrs. Lowry died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at a local hospital. Burial will be under direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home. She was born in Lawton to J. Allan and Mary Figge Lowry. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. She taught school for 41 years at Hillside School, Central Junior High School, Chattanooga School, and Randlett School. She married Furman H. Lowry on Nov. 24, 1928, in Kingfisher. He died on Oct. 18, 1988. She was a member of Lambda Alpha Kappa, and she was the past State President of Kappa Kappa Iota, of the National Teachers Society. She was a charter member of the Lawton Heritage Association. She was a volunteer at Comanche County Memorial Hospital for 12 years. She was the Teacher of the Year in the Lawton Public Schools System in 1969-1970. She and her husband were active in the farming community and developed a registered Short Horn Cattle Herd. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, June Barrington, Duncan; a sister, Mary Sue and her husband, Wesley Silk, Lawton; two grandsons: Allan L. Barrington and his wife, Janna, Lawton; and Quinton Neil Barrington, Tulsa; three great-grandsons: Justin Barrington and Cody Barrington, both of Lawton; and Ross Barrington, Wichita Falls, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, William "Billy" Lowry. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.
