Walter Lee McKinley Sr., 89, Lawton, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at New Jerusalem Baptist Church with the Rev. Darwin D. McHenry, pastor, officiating. The Rev. McKinley died Saturday, May 10, 2003, at a local hospital. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under direction of Jefferson Funeral Home Inc. He was born Sept. 25, 1914, in Parkdale, Miss., to Alonzo and Lillian McKinley. He was educated in Parkdale School District. He married Mittie Gardner in 1933 in Paynes, Miss. He was a farmer for most of his life, and while he was farming, he was blinded from using insecticides. He came to Lawton in 1998 from Clarksdale, Miss. He was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church, where he was ordained as a minister on Sept. 8, 2002. Survivors include his wife, Lawton; two sons: Walter McKinley, Cleveland; and Jack Alonzo McKinley, Charleston, S.C.; two daughters and son-in-law: Bertha Wilson, Clarksdale; and Henrietta and Leon Williams, Lawton; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
