'Jenny' McCartney Funeral for Virginia L. "Jenny" McCartney, 74, Lawton, will at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Carr-Montgomery Funeral Home, Thayer, Mo., with Robert Ball, minister of Church of Christ, Hialeah, Fla., officiating. Mrs. McCartney died Friday, Sept. 2, 2005, at a local hospital. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Mammoth Spring, Ark. Local arrangements are under direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home. She was born Sept. 2, 1931, in Mammoth Spring, Ark., to George and Ruth Charlston Ball. She married Darryl E. McCartney on June 21, 1958, in Mammoth Spring. She was a public school teacher and traveled with her husband throughout his military career. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and had attended Prestonwood Baptist Church of Plano, Texas. Survivors include a son, Jeff McCartney and wife, Kelly, Tallahassee, Fla.; two daughters: Stephanie "Sam" Foster-Erler and husband, Fred Erler III, Dallas, Texas; Dara Gee and husband, Lane, Lawton; and eight grandchildren: Stacy, Clint, and Tanner Gee, all of Lawton, Jeffrey and Randi McCartney, Tallahassee, Fla.; Ted and John Foster, Dallas, Texas; and Christopher Erler, Dallas, Texas; three brothers: George Gray Ball and wife, Karen, Jeffersonville, Ind.; Buddy Ball and wife, Virginia, Raytown, Mo.; and Robert Ball and wife, Sharlene, Hialeah, Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Betty DiEsposti.
