All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::NOT LISTED St John Baptist Church Funeral Card Staff Sergeant (Retired) Clarence Mitchell, Sr. Staff Sergeant (Retired) Clarence Mitchell, Sr. went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 28, 1995 after a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elcena Mitchell. She died in June 1991. Clarence Mitchell, 64, was born August 28, 1930 to Amanias and Katie Mitchell in Morgan City, Louisiana. Clarence Mitchell, Sr., a veteran of the United States Army serving in Korea and Vietnam received the Army Occupation Medal (Japan), United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with five bronze stars, Good Conduct Medal, Expert Rifleman and the Combat Infantry Badge. He retired honorably in 1969 after twenty-one years of service. After his retirement from the U.S. Army, he was employed by Civil Service at Fort Sill until 1988, and was medically retired in 1991. He was a cab driver with Peoples Cab Company of Lawton. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Elcena Stevenson on November 10, 1952. Blessed of this union were born four children, Clarence Jr., Evonne, Rodney and Michael. He came to Lawton, Oklahoma in 1963 from Germany. He joined St. John Baptist Church in 1984, where served with the Usher Board and Mobile Meals Program. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter No. 56. He leaves to celebrate his homegoing: four children, Evonne Ford, Lawton, Oklahoma, Clarence Jr. of Fort Worth, Texas, Rodney, Uganda, West Africa and Michael Mitchell, Dallas, Texas two sisters, Ruth Cross, Morgan City, Louisiana and Jeanetta Daniels, Franklin, Louisiana; one brother Sidney Mitchell of Morgan City, Louisiana, thirteen grandchildren, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Comanche County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/comanche/comanche.html
