Bender, pastor, officiating. Mrs. Miller died Monday, June 25, 2001, in Glendale, Ariz. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Gipson Station, under direction of Miller's Mortuary. Masonic rites will be at 7 pm Friday at Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was born Oct 3, 1920, to Frankie and Leo Goldbird Durley in Gipson Station. She attended public school in Wagoner and Muskogee and graduated from Manual Training High School in Muskogee. She received her bachelor's degree at Langston University and her master's degree in home economics at the University of Oklahoma. She married Doe Anderson while at Langston University. They lived in Guthrie until he died in 1954. She married Clarence W. Miller in 1955 and moved to Amarillo, Texas. She was employed as a dietian by the Amarillo Air Force Base. She came to Lawton in the early 1960's and in 1962 she and Clarence purchased the former Shaw Funeral Home, which then became Miller's Mortuary. She worked with her husband in the mortuary business untill he died in 1989. She was amember of Bethlehem Baptist Church, where she served as pianist for the Sunday School, brotherhood chorus, senior choir and missionary chorus. She was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Order of the Eastern Star and numerous Masonic organizations for more than 50 years. Survivors include three step-children: Harold Ray and Charles Miller, Lawton; Helena Miller-Foster, Georgia;an aunt, Alice James, Tulsa; seven cousins: Tima Riess, Minneapolis; Willia Benson, Oklahoma City; Bobby Benson, Glendale; Leryoy James, Leon James and Cheryl Wright,Wichita, Kan.; a close friend, Melvin Powell, Lawton; and other relatives and friends. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Comanche County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/comanche/comanche.html
