Mr. Munoz died Monday, May 26, 2003, in Lawton. ========= Lawton Consitituion 28 May 2003 Epimenio F. Munoz LAWTON — Funeral for Epimenio F. "Eppy" Munoz, 79, Lawton, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church with Leo Martinez, deacon, officiating. Mr. Munoz died Monday, May 26, 2003, in Lawton. Burial with military honors will be at Post Cemetery, Fort Sill, under direction of Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service. A prayer service will be from 7-9 p.m. today at the church. He was born March 15, 1924, in Del Rio, Texas, to Paula Florez and Epimenio Munoz. He attended elementary and high school at Sanderson, Texas, and received his GED while in the Army. He married Ruth Ann Haitshan on April 30, 1963, in Duncan. She died July 18, 1995. He joined the CC Camps in January 1941 and joined the Army on April 22, 1942. He was discharged on Dec. 22, 1945, at Fort Bliss, Texas. He reenlisted in July 1948 and remained in the military until Sept. 1, 1956, when he retired at Brooks Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, a life member of the DAV, a life member of the Latin-American Community Club, Special Forces Association Chapter 32 and the VFW Post 1193. Among his military decorations, medals and ribbons are the Bronze Star- National Defense Service Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluste; American Theatre, European, African, Middle Eastern Ribbons; Good Conduct and Victory Ribbon; MM Rifle Badge; Parachutist and Glider Wings received Sept. 1, 1948 at Ft. Benning, Ga.; Jump Master Certificate received Jan. 30, 1954, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.; 1˘ Certificate (28 months), Special Forces (Green Berets); 77th S.F. Airborne Group, Fort Bragg, N.C.; and Senior Parachutist Badge with 55 Parachute Jumps, Sept. 2, 1955. His last overseas assignment was in Thailand with "Project Friendship." Survivors include five sons: George, Richard, Epimenio III and Oscar, all of Houston, Texas; and Monty, Lawton; a daughter, Tomacita "Toddle" Munoz and her fiancé, Joel Gonzalez, Lawton; two adopted daughters, Charlotte "Bunchy" Goodson and Mary Ethel Haitshan, both of Lawton; a sister, Minnie Chalanbaga, Sanderson, Texas; and a companion, Henryetta Ortiz, Lawton. ========= Lawton Consitituion 29 May 2003 Epimenio F.
