'Jiggs' Montgomery 15 Dec 1921 - 21 Apr 2002 :Green Hill Cemetery DAVIS — Funeral for former Lawton resident John H. "Jiggs" Montgomery, 80, Davis will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Davis First Baptist Church with the Rev. James Densman and David Eggenberg officiating. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery under direction of Fox Funeral Home. Mr. Montgomery died Sunday, April 21, 2002, at his home. He was born Dec. 15, 1921, in Wynnewood to Thomas Ford and Lizzie Dee Eaton Montgomery. He married Florence Edwards on Sept. 22, 1946, in Davis. After graduating from Dougherty High School he served in the Army and was stationed in France during World War II. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Silver Star. After the war, he moved to Lawton where he was employed by civil service at Fort Sill until he retired in January 1978. In Lawton he was a deacon at First Baptist Church. In March 1979 he moved to Davis where he was employed in transportation by Davis Public Schools. After 10 years he retired. He was a member of Davis First Baptist Church where he was a deacon and usher. Survivors include: his wife, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law: Linda and Jerry Boston, Ardmore; and Connie and Darryl Gowan, Duncan; one brother: Clifford "Fat," Arizona; two sisters: Ruth Mathews, Davis, and Maxine Hanifen, Dallas; four grandchildren: Robbie and Sarah Boston; Kara Reid and her husband, Cory; and Jana Gowan; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and a sister.
