All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Lawton Constitutuion 8 Sep 2004 Billy Wayne Monroe Graveside service for Billy Wayne Monroe, 65, Lawton, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, with the Rev. Kenneth E. Hayes, pastor, Jefferson Baptist Church, officiating. Mr. Monroe died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004 in an Oklahoma City hospital. Arrangements are by Becker Funeral Home. He was born Aug. 27, 1939, in Lawton, to Clarence Eldon and Verna Gladys Elliot Monroe. He graduated from Lawton High School. He married Sandra Stevens on Sept. 13, 1965, in Lawton. He served in the Army from 1960 to 1965 and retired from Busy Bee Cab in 1995. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Roy Wayne Monroe, Wichita Falls, Texas; two daughters: Tammy Monroe, Lawton; and Tracy Douglas and her husband, Stefano, Oklahoma City; a stepdaughter, Jennifer Hartman, Lawton; a grandson, Kristopher Wayne Monroe; a stepgranddaughter, Katelyn Hartman; two brothers: Troy Monroe and his wife, Stella, and Thomas Monroe and his wife, Berneice, all of Fletcher; a sister, Ethel Hughes and her husband, Virgil, Lawton; and two close friends: Boyd Reid and Pete Crough. He is preceded in death by his parents.
