Lee' Moore Funeral for retired Command Sgt. Maj. Leland E. "Lee" Moore, 71, Lawton, will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Forrest Keener, Lawton, and the Rev. Dean Robinson, pastor, officiating. Sgt. Maj. Moore died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003, in a local care center. Burial with full military honors will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, under direction of Becker Funeral Home. He was born May 15, 1932, in Miller, Ohio, to Bethel and Hazel Dillon Moore. He joined the U.S. Army in 1949, and served in Germany, Korea and Vietnam. He was a Bird Dog Air Observer and was shot down seven times. He received many awards including the Senior Parachute Badge, Army of Occupation Medal (Germany), Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal (5th award), Bronze Star Medal with 'V' (2nd Oak Leaf Cluster), Air Medal (4th Oak Leaf Cluster), Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, Republic of Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 device, and the Aircraft Crewman Badge. He retired from the Army in 1970 and became the chief private investigator for the F. Lee Bailey Law Firm. He married Elaine Farley in Forsyth, Mo., Aug. 4, 1999. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, the Order of the Purple Heart, and the DAV. He was also a 32nd degree Mason, a former state commander of AMVETS as well as a commander of the Oklahoma VFW. Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Michael Ross Farley, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Monique and Danny French, Chickasha; and his mother, Hazel Bean, Lawton.
