Morse, 97, Lawton, is pending with Becker Funeral Home. Mr. Morse died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at a local care center. ========= Lawton Constitution 2 & 3 Jan 2005 Morse, J. R. Funeral for J. R. Morse, 97, Lawton, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Centenary United Methodist Church with the Rev. Shelly Coulter, associate pastor; and the Rev. Shaun Wicker, pastor, Bethel United Methodist Church, east of Lawton, officiating. Mr. Morse died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, in a local care center. Burial will be in Letitia Cemetery, east of Lawton, under direction of Becker Funeral Home. He was born Oct. 14, 1907, in Seminole, Texas, to Joseph Flanders Morse and Nannie Friend Morse. When he was 2, the family moved southeast of Sterling. As a young man, he and his brother, Clay, tended the farm. He married Lois L. McBee on July 6, 1933, in Marlow. She died Oct. 31, 1978. After farming for many years, he became a car salesman. He worked during the last half of the 20th century for Oscar Cox Pontiac, retiring at the age of 80 from Felton Dean Pontiac. Survivors include a daughter; Betty Foster-Kurashige; grandchildren: Kay Foster, and Douglas and Sandy Foster; and great-grandchildren; Michael Foster Erwin, Jessica Foster, and Sam Foster; and many other relatives. He was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Joe Morse; and a brother; Clay Buck Morse. Contributions may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church Logos Scholarship Fund, 704 S.W.
