Morgan-Whaley Funeral for Lorna J. Morgan-Whaley, 41, Lawton, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Rose Hill Church of Christ with James Stewart, minister, Altus Church of Christ, officiating. Mrs. Whaley died Thursday, April 17, 2003, in Lawton. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery under direction of Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service. She was born Oct. 19, 1961, in Chicago, to Una Marie Sims and Arthur Moore. She graduated from MacArthur High School and then attended USAO in Chickasha, where she received a bachelor's degree in education. She taught in Lawton for six years. She married Samuel Whaley on May 9, 2000, in Lawton. She later relocated to Minneapolis, and was nominated by her students as Teacher of the Year. She then returned to Lawton and pursued her master's degree in counseling. She was a member of Altus Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, of the home; a daughter, Madelyn Shephard, Lawton; a brother, Rodney Thomas, Texas; five sisters: Shirley Thomas-Lee, and Jackolyn Thomas, both of Chicago; Yolanda Adair, and Leona Thomas, both of Minneapolis; and Heather Thomas, Lubbock, Texas; three nieces: Nekeisha Adair, Minneapolis; and Theralyn Lewis and Daviel Thomas, both of Chicago; three nephews: Lawrence Thomas, Los Angeles; Thermon Watson, Minneapolis; and Julius Sims, Lubbock, Texas; three great-nephews; two great-nieces; and many aunts, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her birth parents; her adopted parents, Clareese and Tandy Morgan; a daughter, Tandi Morgan; and her grandmother, Rosie D.
