All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Lawton Constitution 24 April 2002 Lovell Merritt - Lincoln 17 Aug 1907 - 20 Apr 2002 :Resurrection Memorial Cemetery OKLAHOMA CITY — Lovell Merritt died Saturday, April 20, 2002, at Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The daughter of John and Emma Draughon, she was born in Davenport, Oklahoma, on August 17, 1907. She graduated from high school in Hominy, Oklahoma, and later Draughon Business College. In 1928 she married Theodore Wood of Lawton. Ted Wood died in an automobile accident in 1930. A widow with a small child during the Depression, she worked in Lawton and Altus, Oklahoma. In 1935 she was married to Earle Merritt of Fletcher, Oklahoma. They resided in various places in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri, finally settling in Oklahoma City in 1945. Earle preceded her in death in 1974. Lovell Merritt, during her very special life, left a legacy of eight great-grandchildren; five grandchildren and is survived by her three children: Gen. Jack Merritt, Arlington, Va., Oklahoma City Attorneys, John Merritt and Barbara Merritt. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2002, in St. Mary's Chapel of All Souls' Episcopal Church. Interment to follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
