Services were held Wednesday, Sept. 14, at the First Baptist Church in Marlow, with Dr. Gene Nease and the Rev. LaRoyce Brown officiating. Burial was held at the Letitia Cemetery, under the direction of Callaway-Smith- Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow. George was born May 10, 1922, in Comanche County to the late James Benjamin and Noma Ethel (Shipman) Nease. He grew up in the Bethel area and attended school at Central High. George served in the United States Navy during WWII. He married Wanda Lou (Parker) Nease on Sept. 23, 1947, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Before moving to town in 2001, he had lived on their farm east of Marlow since 1949. George was a farmer and rancher and at one time owned the White Way Grocery on North Broadway in Marlow. He was past president of the Marlow Lions Club, a former member of the Marlow Chamber of Commerce and a member of the American Legion. He served on the ASC (Agriculture Stabilization Committee) for 12 years, and George and Wanda were given the honor of Stephens County Farm Family of the Year. George was an avid quail hunter and enjoyed fishing. He was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Marlow. Survivors include his wife Wanda Lou, of the home; two sons, George Dale Nease and wife Doris of Clinton, and Keith Nease and wife Pam of Marlow; a daughter, Brenda Johnson and husband Pat of Lawton; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, with another on the way; a brother, Gene Nease and wife Charlotte of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Mozell Norton of Lawton, Jeanell Bradley and husband J.W. of Duncan, and Jimmie Lou Gunkel and husband James of Duncan; a sister-in-law, Velda Green and husband Jerl of Marlow; numerous nieces and nephews; and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and four sisters. Pallbearers were his grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
