All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Sterling Cemetery--Sterling OK Lawton Constitution 5 Sep 2002 George Edward Petry STERLING - Funeral for George Edward Petry, 75, Sterling, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Jim McGuire, Hospice of Lawton Area, officiating. Mr. Petry died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, at his home. Burial will be at Sterling Cemetery. He was born Jan. 16, 1927, in Deep Water, W.Va., to Paul Clayton and Mary Bostic Petry. He grew up in Deep Water and Montgomery, W.Va. He joined the Army in 1944 at Fayetteville, W.Va., and served during World War II and the Korean War. His awards include the Army Accommodation Award, the National Defense Service Medal, Appreciation Award, Sharp Shooter Award, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Ribbon. He was honorably discharged in 1967 at Fort Lee, Va. He married Maglean Ashworh on Dec. 11, 1964 in Lawton. After his retirement from the military, he worked for and retired from Fitch Welding supply. He was a Methodist. Survivors include his wife, of the home; four daughters: Rhonda Hight, Lawton; Rita Frisner, Lakewood, Wash.; Wilma Adamson, Sterling; and Mary Margaret Petry, California; seven grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren.
