All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== :Highland Cemetery--Lawton OK Lawton Constitution 29 Mar 2003 Edward "Eddy" Poindexter GERONIMO -- Graveside service for Edward "Eddy" Poindexter, 82, Geronimo, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Highland Cemetery with the Rev. Tony Elkins, pastor, Abundant Life Outreach, Geronimo, officiating. Mr. Poindexter died Wednesday, March 26, 2003. Arrangements are by Becker Funeral Home. He was born June 12, 1920, in Derrick, Ark., to Ebby and Pearl Stevens Poindexter. He was the owner and operator of Eddy"s Signs in Lawton for more than 50 years. He also painted murals for businesses, churches and for the homes of many people. He married Frances Lena Swarts on April 14, 1942, in Walters. She died Jan. 16, 1988. Survivors include five daughters and sons-in-law: Pearl and Carl Williams, Oklahoma City; Dixie and Roy Meeks, Hastings; Carma Johnny Buckmaster, Winfield, Kan.; Barbara and Dan Brown and Joyce Hardin, all of Geronimo; two sons: Eldon Poindexter and his wife, Martha, Tennessee; and Lee Poindexter and his fiancée, Lisa, Lawton; two brothers: Lawrence Poindexter, Oakhurst, Calif.; and Jimmy Poindexter, Lawton; two sisters: Joyce Gant, Tulsa; and Colleen Melrose, Lawton; 22 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother. Memorial contributions may be made to the Geronimo Senior Citizens" Center.
