J.O. Howard, pastor, Church of God, officiating. Mr. Pierce died Sunday, March 2, 2003, at a Lawton hospital. Burial will be at Post Cemetery, Fort Sill. He was born Feb. 18, 1929, in Senath, Mo., to Aline Pierce. He grew up and attended school in Senath. He joined the U.S. Army on Nov. 28, 1950, and served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. After retiring from the military on April 1, 1973, he was self-employed as a used car dealer and he owned and operated Odell's Trade Lot in Lawton for five years. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5263. Survivors include his wife, Polly Jameson, of the home; a son, Gary Pierce and his wife, Connie, Lawton; a daughter, Gloria Pierce Mallow and her husband Don, Bentonville, Ark.; five sisters: Wanda Adams and her husband, Sonny, West Memphis, Ark.; Betty Gates, Bay, Ark.; Bertha Wright and her husband, R.C., St. Joseph, Mo.; Donna Dancy, Memphis, Tenn.; and Debbie Gates and her husband Dan, Paragould, Ark.; three grandchildren: James Pierce and Robynne Pierce, both of Lawton; and Kerri Wells and her husband, Jason, Ada. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Sonny Short; and a sister, Phyllis Short.
