Pierce ELGIN - Funeral for Robert W. Pierce, 84, Elgin, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Elgin Church of Christ with Adraine Smith, Sterling, officiating. Mr. Pierce died Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at a Cyril nursing home. Burial will be at Elgin Memorial Lawn Cemetery under direction of Robbins Funeral Home, Fletcher. He was born July 7, 1918, in Addington, to Robert Hammons and Ida May Price Pierce. He grew up near Anadarko and graduated from Anadarko High School. He attended Oklahoma State University for one year. He married Verley "Sis" Pool on July 7, 1940, in Anadarko. They moved to Elgin where he started working for Dolese in 1946. He retired in the late 1980s after more than 40 years. He was a member of Elgin Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Imogene and Ronny Wagner, Hugo; four sons and daughters-in-law: Eugene and Sue Pierce, Spiro; Richard and Kathy Pierce, Longview, Texas; Jimmy and Sharron Pierce, Elgin; and Bobby Pierce, Ardmore; 10 grandchildren: Jana James, Tammy Anderson, Richard Pierce, Gina Smith, Jammy Pierce, Patricia Pierce, Julie Harris, Jeannie Farahnak, Sarah Wutz and Jessica Ritter; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Ruby Rodgers and Margaret Howell, and a brother, Nolan Pierce. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Comanche County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/comanche/comanche.html
