Mr. Parnell died Friday, May 2, 2003, in Lawton. ========= Lawton Constitution 7 & 8 May 2003 Carthell Eugene Parnell Funeral for Carthell Eugene Parnell, 46, Lawton, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Whinery-Huddleston Chapel with the Rev. Willie Smith officiating. Mr. Parnell died Friday, May 2, 2003, in Lawton. Burial will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery. He was born Oct. 20, 1956, in Memphis, Tenn., to Magnolia Boyd and James Parnell Sr. He married Rene Charlotte Jenkins on Nov. 5, 1982, in Belton County, Texas. He served in the Army and retired as a sergeant first class in September 1996. Awards he received during his 20 years of service include the 2nd Bronze Star Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (fourth award), the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Army Achievement Medal (fourth award), the Army Good Conduct Medal (sixth award), the National Defense Service Medal, the Kuwait Liberation Medal (k), the Kuwait Liberation Medal (sa), the Southwest Asia Service Medal with three bronze stars, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (fourth award), Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rocket Launcher Bar, Sharpshooter Marksmanship Qualification Badge with rifle bar, and the driver and mechanic badge with driver w-bar. He was a member of the Honorable Order of St. Barbara, the Vern E. Jenkins Military Lodge No. 156, the VFW Post 1193, and a lifetime member of DAV Chapter No. 58. He was an electrician employed by Western Farmers Electric Co-op. Survivors include his wife, of the home; two daughters: Keshia and Sheriee Parnell, both of the home; six sisters: Louise Parnell, Mary Simmons, Jackie Norman, Wanda Parnell and Marha, all of Memphis; and Shirley Gooch, Baltimore, Md.; and five brothers: James, Charles, Ronnye, Donnye and Greg Parnell, all of Memphis.
